These fishermen at Hanalei Bay is a network of family and friends on the north shore of Kauai.
Upon locating a school of sardines, one group holds down a corner of the net at the shore while a small fishing boat is launched with the rest of the net. In a flash, the boat encircles the entire school of fish. Once enclosed, the net holders tighten the circle and the fish are transported into large coolers, one batch at a time. Pickup trucks are on standby to load bins of live sardines, making multiple trips for hours.
